Hey Dad, Mum & Sus,
Pranam
How are you
guys doing?
Hope you guys
are entertaining your quarantine days with lots of mum made mutton and special kadha.
I know, I know it’s absolutely insane to write you guys a letter though I am talking
with you guys every single day over the phone. But as you all know; I am still shy
to my expressions and most of the time act as a YES-NO machine. Well, it’s hard
to say whether I can change it or not soon enough, but for that time being, you
guys have to bear with my Kirana store handwriting and not so fun flooding letters.
Although it
seems like yesterday, it’s been over a month now that I have shifted from homestay
comfort to Dad’s selected boarding school in Bhubaneswar.
In case you
guys were wondering…
The first few
days were brutal. As school is still closed and probably open a week or two after
(not certain yet), the half-broken phone you gave me is the only available entertainment
for me apart from the chowkidar uncle’s jagte raho howling. I seriously need a change
of phone this Diwali, so please do consider it. Though hostel beds here are super
comfy, I am still finding it hard to forget my bed. It feels like my first true
taste of adulthood, way different from the laugh, love, and live life at home.
Thanks to dad and my good gracious results, I will enjoy the name of the best CBSE school in Odisha on my certificates, and not to say the excellent facilities and study environment that my school is offering. With the continuing pandemic, the rules are somehow strict and I do agree with their reasons. Not much of hustle and bustle and the weekend city tours are still closed due to safety reasons.
I must say the
food they provide is way-way better than my expectations with one ingredient missing,
mum’s magic. Don’t worry, mum’s food and Senapati’s snacks will still stay on top
of my list. The all-day food here is very good and I might have gained a few extra
kilos just in a month here, good news for mum.
Ravi and Dixit
(Abhishek) are two of my best buddies here now. One is extremely addictive to
personal hygiene and the second one prefers to study over Tangdi Kabab, so you guys
don’t have to worry about my health and study at all. Online classes with extra
revision lessons are continuing on full force, so hardly getting enough to spend
on unnecessary things, good news for dad.
Ohh…How can
I forget? I am participating in eMUN (Online Model United Nations, in case you find
it difficult to understand). It’s a contest of intellectual debate &
discussion on international policies and I am super hyped for it. All the best CBSE schools nearby to me are participating. Even participants from national
and international schools have enrolled for this year’s eMUN. Some extra preparation
will be needed for the upcoming month as it starts from 3rd Dec and the
competition is going to be tough.
Don’t know how
to say it, but I am slowly liking the structure, curriculum, and discipline here.
Hope the environment here will help me grow into the well-rounded individual that
I have always wish to be. Though the early morning schedule has cut a few hours
from my sweet dreams, I am getting a yummy breakfast buffet to compensate for it.
Lunch and dinner are equally heavy but healthy and glorious. Apart from the online
classes, good food, and accommodation, I am a big fan of the playtime here these
days.
Well, that’s
all from my side. I am missing you guys a hell of a lot than I can mention here.
Don’t worry about writing back, you can just call me back.
Eagerly waiting
for my Diwali gift, and dad, please – please – please, make it a new smartphone
this time. It will help greatly with my online classes also.
See you in December.
Love you and miss you more and more.
Pranam

Son
